Sunset Berry Farm & Sunset Farm Adventure Park
High atop Flat Mountain in Alderson, Sunset Berry Farm offers a true West Virginia agritourism experience—where mountain views, harvest traditions and family adventuring come together.
Open the first Saturday of each month from April through October, the farm becomes a lively seasonal destination featuring festivals, food trucks and the Outdoor Appalachian Marketplace. Throughout the warm season, the farm also hosts special celebrations that showcase the best of West Virginia’s agricultural heritage.
Signature festivals include the Alderson Strawberry Festival, Monroe County Peach Festival, West Virginia Watermelon Festival, West Virginia Sunflower Festival, the Freedom Festival and fall Food Truck Nights with Spooky Tractor-Pulled Trail Rides.
At the center of it all is Sunset Farm Adventure Park, a hands-on farm experience designed for families. Kids can explore the Fairy Garden Scavenger Hunt, ride the tractor-pulled barrel train, soar on the miniature zipline, bounce on the HUGE jump pad, operate working excavators, crawl through the LEGO tunnel, feed the chickens, and compete in the Pig vs. Bumble Bee Ride-On Race.
Fresh, mountain-grown seasonal favorites, like the farm’s famous gourmet chocolate-dipped strawberries, add a sweet touch to every visit.
Whether you’re planning a festival weekend, a scenic day trip, or a family outing in the Greenbrier Valley, Sunset Farm Adventure Park delivers an authentic taste of Appalachian agritourism with fun growing in every season.
Fun Grows Here.
Known for having the sweetest berries in the state, the Gilkersons are considered West Virginia's strawberry-growing experts. Kent is a third-generation strawberry farmer and has been growing the juicy morsels since the age of 9. Several years ago, the family relocated their farm to a 60-acre place on top of Flat Mountain. "West Virginia is perfect for growing strawberries -- the only challenge is finding enough flat land! The sandy soil and the cooler climate are good for berries," states Jennifer.
